May 6th, 2008

This afternoon we released an alpha version of the Brightkite iPhone application. To use it, just visit Brightkite.com on your iPhone.

There are some features missing and it’s possible some things are broken, but hey, it’s alpha. Let us know what you think here, we are listening.

I don't know what kind of location api iPod Touch has (obviously not GPS or triangulation, but maybe the wifi hotspot location service they currently use), but will you release the native app for iPod Touch as well?

Hmm the iPhone app has a webclip. Are you still having a problem adding it?

Very nice. I got as far as the login screen… =) Any help with that?

Thanks for letting me test it out early. Good stuff guys! :) BTW – I know I pointed this out already, but the homescreen icon opens a new window in safari everytime, even if brightkite windows are already open.

how about the native app? Any news on when you might be releasing that? Something similar to Twinkle which would locate you automatically would be sweet!

Yes we are working on an Android version. Expect it in the next few months.

The native iPhone application with core location (cell triangulation, GPS) is in the works. Checking in will become much easier. We will be releasing it in June through Apple. There are no plans to release a jail broken version as of right now.

What a delightful surprise when I open my Safari.app and it displays the last page (brightkite) but in the sweet new interface. It rocks!

Hi Jen, thanks for the feedback. We are aware of this issue, it really annoys me to. Hopefully we will get this fixed soon.

glad to know something is on the way and I guess June isn't too far off, hopefully not going to cost and arm and a leg, a little nervous for everything going through apple rather than how it is now. Excited for sure though!
