We’re Looking for an Android Developer

Android usage is growing in the US and worldwide and that means our Android Brightkite user base is growing, too. To celebrate this, we want to add another Android developer to our team. Think you have what it takes to join our team?

Here at Brightkite, we support a wide range of 3rd party developers via our API but, in-house, we create dedicated apps for iPhone, Android and Nokia devices and we want to innovate even faster than we are now.

Love developing for mobile devices, and enjoy playing around with the latest and greatest gadgets? Interested in location based services and augmented reality? We’d like to meet you!

Required:

  • BS in Computing Science or related field
  • Excellent Java or C/C++ skills
  • Experience building high-quality standalone client applications and user interfaces
  • Knowledge of web service technologies and services (specifically REST APIs)
  • Familiarity with the Android SDK

Nice to have:

  • Additional mobile application development experience (iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, etc)
  • One or more published Android application
  • HTML and CSS skills, with a focus on standards

I realize that this is a much older post, but I actually have a friend that's a programmer who has experience with the android operating system. Are you guys perhaps looking for more programmers? Most of the work she gets is freelance and it doesn't seem to be paying the bills all that way. She fiddles around with Javascript all the time and she's worked on various flash games in the past -- so I think she would make a good fit. I'll pass along this blog post just in case. Thanks for sharing the info! :)
