Photo Contest: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

We were blown away at the amount of quality submissions we received for the #PlanesTrains contest. We have narrowed down our favorites to 6 finalists who receive a schwag bag and one grand prize winner who will receive an iPhone or Android tripod, Brightkite Schwag and credit to buy apps for their smartphone to take even better photos. There are some incredible photos being posted to Brightkite every day from all over the world but have you seen the photos our users post of cars, trains and even subway lines? Transportation helps us discover new locales and connect with people in person so it’s easy to see how much fun it is taking pictures of what gets us from here to there and sharing it on Brightkite. For this contest, we’ll be giving out some really awesome stuff. The grand prize winner gets a Joby GM2 Gorillamobile Flexible Tripod which is an awesome cell phone tripod that allows you to take great photos from your phone. The tripods are available for most of the popular smart phones on the market. Here’s what it looks like with the Apple iPhone:

The winner also gets an iTunes gift card so you can buy a few camera apps. Here at Brightkite, we love using CameraBag, Camera+ and Autostitch which are great apps for processing photos on the go and then uploading them to Brightkite. If you just want to use the gift card to buy that new Devo album, we won’t mind. Runners up will get a Brightkite Schwag Bag full of BK logo gear to show off to your friends. What we’re looking for is your most interesting shots of the transportation we ride on every day. Extra points to photos that have a super awesome perspective, cool coloring or a snazzy angle that makes us say, “Wow!” When submitting your photos, make sure they’re posted as “Everybody” since private photos aren’t eligible. Also, use the hashtag #planestrains and we’ll be picking the winners on July 1st.
